“Blacklisted by SEM URIRED” – what it means
Verdict: Minor; request removal. SEM URIRED is a predictive list of domains "identified as high-probability candidates" for SEM's main URI list. Unlike SEM FRESH it doesn't expire by itself, but few filters use it; ask for removal on SEM's lookup page.
What the warning checks
URIRED is a wider, more aggressive version of SEM-URI (domains seen in spam). New domains and domains seen early in a spam run can land on it even with no history against them.
Does it hurt email delivery?
- No stock SpamAssassin rule and no default Rspamd rule uses URIRED.
- Some checkers say URIRED entries expire after 30 days; SEM's own page says URIRED entries do not expire automatically (the 30-day rule is SEM-URI's).
- If you are also on SEM-URI (the main list), that one does matter: find what sent spam with your domain in it.
What to do
- Open the lookup for your domain at spameatingmonkey.com and check "evidence" and "history".
- If both are empty, use "Request removal" and explain what the domain is and how it sends mail (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). SEM says requests are handled within 24 hours.
- If there is evidence: find the source first (a hacked contact form or newsletter, a compromised mailbox), then ask.
Check what actually matters
SPF, DKIM and DMARC decide whether Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo accept your mail.
After the fix, send a test email to see SPF, DKIM and DMARC pass on a real message, then keep an eye on it: free DMARC monitoring shows every service that sends mail as your domain and which ones fail, in plain English.
