Gmail 550 5.7.32: From header not aligned with SPF or DKIM
What the bounce means and the exact steps to stop it.
The bounce looks like this
550-5.7.32 Your email was blocked because the From: header (RFC5322) in this message isn't aligned with either the authenticated SPF or DKIM organizational domain.
What it means
SPF or DKIM passed – but for someone else's domain (usually the email service's), not for the domain in your From address. DMARC needs at least one of them to pass for your own domain. Typical case: a newsletter or CRM tool signs with its own default DKIM domain.
How to fix it
- Run the checker for the domain in your From address.
- In the sending service, set up DKIM with your domain (custom/branded DKIM) instead of the shared default.
- Optionally set a custom return-path (bounce) domain on your domain so SPF aligns too.
- Keep DMARC alignment relaxed (default) unless you know every sender signs with the exact same domain.
