SPF, DKIM and DMARC for HubSpot

Short answer: HubSpot mail passes Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft checks when you turn on DKIM with your own domain and publish a DMARC record at _dmarc (start with p=none). The exact records and clicks are below.

SPF	—	Add the include HubSpot shows for your account (it looks like `include:123456.spf03.hubspotemail.net`; some accounts use `include:shared.hubspot.com`) to your one SPF record at `@`.
DKIM	CNAME / TXT	Two CNAME records whose names and targets HubSpot generates for your account: copy the Host and Required data columns.
DMARC	TXT at `_dmarc`	v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com Start with `p=none` and a mailbox you read, or a free report address that turns the reports into a dashboard; build your own.

Step by step

In HubSpot click the settings icon → Content → Domains & URLs, open the Email Sending tab and click Connect sending domain.
Enter the address you send from; HubSpot lists the DKIM, SPF and DMARC records for that domain.
Copy each record into your DNS. Edit your existing SPF record instead of adding a second one.
Wait at least 20 minutes, then click Verify. Most changes show up within an hour, some take up to 48 hours.
No DMARC record yet? Start with p=none at _dmarc; one on the root domain also covers subdomains.

Mistakes that break it

On Cloudflare, turn off proxying and domain-wide CNAME flattening for the DKIM records, or verification fails.
An SPF record can trigger at most 10 DNS lookups; adding HubSpot to a long record can push it over.

Check that it worked

After the fix, keep an eye on it: free DMARC monitoring shows every service that sends mail as your domain and which ones fail, in plain English.
