SPF, DKIM and DMARC for Constant Contact

Short answer: Constant Contact mail passes Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft checks when you turn on DKIM with your own domain and publish a DMARC record at _dmarc (start with p=none). The exact records and clicks are below.

SPF—Not needed: Constant Contact sends with its own bounce address (@in.constantcontact.com), so SPF can't align with your domain. DMARC passes through DKIM instead.
DKIMCNAME / TXTCNAME records that Constant Contact generates for your domain (host names like ctct1._domainkey and ctct2._domainkey), or a single TXT record if several Constant Contact accounts share the domain.
DMARCTXT at _dmarc
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com
Start with p=none and a mailbox you read, or a free report address that turns the reports into a dashboard; build your own.

Step by step

  1. In Constant Contact open Settings → Advanced settings and click Add self-authentication.
  2. Choose CNAME records (one domain in one account) or a TXT record (the same domain in several accounts).
  3. Add the DKIM records and the DMARC record Constant Contact generates to your DNS.
  4. Wait until DNS has updated (up to 48 hours) before you send; sending earlier gives an error.

Mistakes that break it

Check that it worked

After the fix, keep an eye on it: free DMARC monitoring shows every service that sends mail as your domain and which ones fail, in plain English.
