SPF, DKIM and DMARC for Klaviyo
Short answer: Klaviyo mail passes Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft checks when you turn on DKIM with your own domain
and publish a DMARC record at _dmarc (start with p=none). The exact records and clicks are below.
| SPF | — | Not needed on your root domain: Klaviyo sends from a branded subdomain (for example send.yourdomain.com) that points to Klaviyo. |
|---|---|---|
| DKIM | CNAME / TXT | Dynamic (recommended): the subdomain is delegated with NS records ns1–ns4.klaviyo.com and Klaviyo publishes DKIM itself. Static: CNAMEs for the subdomain plus km1._domainkey and km2._domainkey (marketing; kt1/kt2 transactional, ks1/ks2 service). Both add a TXT klaviyo-site-verification=… at @. |
| DMARC | TXT at _dmarc | v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.comStart with p=none and a
mailbox you read, or a free report address that turns the reports into a dashboard; build your own. |
Step by step
- In Klaviyo click your company name → Settings → Domains → Add domain.
- Pick a subdomain you don't use for anything else, e.g.
sendfor marketing mail. - Choose Dynamic routing (NS records) if your DNS provider supports NS records, otherwise Static (CNAME records).
- Copy the records and the verification TXT exactly as Klaviyo shows them into your DNS.
- Turn on Add DMARC record or publish
v=DMARC1; p=none;at_dmarcyourself. - DNS can take up to 48 hours; then verify the domain in Klaviyo.
Mistakes that break it
- Many DNS panels add your domain automatically:
send.yourdomain.comtyped in full becomessend.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com. Enter only the host part. - Some DNS providers don't accept underscores in CNAME names, which static setup needs. Use dynamic routing there.
- Already have a DMARC record? Don't add a second one or lower its policy to
p=none.
