SPF, DKIM and DMARC for Gorgias
Short answer: Gorgias mail passes Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft checks when you turn on DKIM with your own domain
and publish a DMARC record at _dmarc (start with p=none). The exact records and clicks are below.
| SPF | — | Not needed on your root domain for most accounts: the return-path CNAME (host starting with em) covers SPF and aligns with your domain. Older accounts that Gorgias shows TXT values to instead (one starting with v=spf1) do need that SPF value merged into your one SPF record. |
|---|---|---|
| DKIM | CNAME / TXT | Two CNAME records: gor._domainkey and gor2._domainkey, pointing to values like gor.domainkey.u12345678.wl123.sendgrid.net. Two keys so Gorgias can rotate them without downtime. Copy the exact values from Gorgias. |
| DMARC | TXT at _dmarc | v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.comStart with p=none and a
mailbox you read, or a free report address that turns the reports into a dashboard; build your own. |
Step by step
- In Gorgias click the Settings icon (bottom left) → Channels → Email, pick the address and click Verify Domain. Only Gorgias admins see the values.
- At your DNS host add the three CNAME records:
gor._domainkey,gor2._domainkeyand the return-path host starting withem. - Back in Gorgias click Check Status. Verification can take up to 72 hours.
- No DMARC record yet? Publish one at
_dmarc. Gorgias suggestsp=quarantine; if other tools also send as your domain, start withp=noneand watch the reports first.
Mistakes that break it
- Values starting with
k=rsaandv=spfinstead of CNAMEs mean your account uses the older TXT setup: add those as TXT records, copying the host exactly as Gorgias shows it. - Some registrars want only
gor._domainkeyin the host field, without your domain. - Leading or trailing spaces in a pasted value break verification on some registrars.
- On Cloudflare, set the CNAMEs to DNS only (grey cloud), not proxied.
