SPF, DKIM and DMARC for Mailjet
Short answer: Mailjet mail passes Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft checks when you turn on DKIM with your own domain, add include:spf.mailjet.com to your one SPF record
and publish a DMARC record at _dmarc (start with p=none). The exact records and clicks are below.
| SPF | TXT at @ | v=spf1 include:spf.mailjet.com ~allMailjet's own value is v=spf1 include:spf.mailjet.com ~all. Already have an SPF record? Merge the include into it. Mailjet's default bounce address is on Mailjet's domain, so DMARC usually passes through DKIM, not SPF. |
|---|---|---|
| DKIM | CNAME / TXT | TXT record at mailjet._domainkey with the key from your account (it starts with k=rsa; p=). The key is unique to your domain. |
| DMARC | TXT at _dmarc | v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.comStart with p=none and a
mailbox you read, or a free report address that turns the reports into a dashboard; build your own. |
Step by step
- In Mailjet open Account settings → Domains & Sender addresses, click the cog next to your domain and choose Validate; add the validation TXT record it shows.
- Open SPF/DKIM Authentication → Setup SPF/DKIM Authentication for the domain.
- Add the DKIM TXT record at
mailjet._domainkeyand the SPF include to your one SPF record at@. - Back in Mailjet click refresh: it doesn't re-check DNS on its own. Green checks mean you're done.
- No DMARC record yet? Publish one at
_dmarcwithp=none.
Mistakes that break it
- Some DNS panels add your domain to the host field automatically: check the saved name isn't
mailjet._domainkey.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com. - Some panels want the long key in double quotes, and a few truncate 2048-bit keys. Then regenerate a 1024-bit key in Mailjet (only possible once the whole domain is validated).
- Two records starting with
v=spf1make SPF fail. Keep one.
Check that it worked
After the fix, keep an eye on it: free DMARC monitoring shows every service that sends mail as your domain and which ones fail, in plain English.
